Surveys say that 10 out of 10 people die. As a matter of fact 150,000 people die every day. And guess what: Someday, you are going to die too. But what gives? Why do people die? Better yet, is there any way to get off this crazy train? A lot of people think that death is just a natural part of living. In the old words of Elton John, “It’s the ciiiirrrcle of life!” (Sorry to stick that in your brain for the rest of the day). That’s the way most people view death though: You’re born, you live, and then you make some worm very happy. But the truth is death is not natural! Life is not supposed to end in death. Life was originally supposed to go on forever. But death came into the world as a result of sin. That’s the way we are supposed to understand death. It is actually a punishment; a curse that comes as a result of breaking God’s law. The Bible tells us that “the wages of sin is death.” So everyone dies because everyone is guilty of breaking God’s law. You know what else the Bible says? It says that life does not have to end in death. That’s because Jesus Christ came into the world to take upon himself the punishment that we deserve. Jesus died in order to save sinners like you and me from sin and death. What’s more, Jesus broke the power of death by rising from the grave three days later. He did this in order to guarantee salvation for his people. The Bible verse mentioned above—the one about the wages of sin being death—it goes on to say, “But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ.” This tells us that there is a way to live forever. Life does not have to end in death. The good news is that the Lord has opened a way of salvation through Jesus, and He promises to grant eternal life to anyone who turns to Him for it. If you want to have this eternal life, this is what you do:
